Running it, start to finish
- Do the conversion arithmetic before discussing any deal.
- Ask what would have to be true, deal by deal.
- Close out or push everything that fails, then look at the real number.
What you get back
The output this produces, every time.
- States the conversion arithmetic before any deal is discussed, so optimism cannot accumulate.
- Asks what would have to be true rather than how it is going.
- Sorts on buyer-side activity, which predicts far better than how the last call felt.
Getting better results
Where this usually goes wrong, and how to avoid it.
- Remove the old deals. Anything past 1.5 cycles is almost never closing, and it is what makes an inadequate pipeline look adequate.
- Judge on what the buyer did. A pleasant call is not activity. An introduction, a document provided or an internal step moved is.
- Read the stall pattern. If deals consistently stop at one stage, that is a process problem worth more than any individual deal in the review.
