Running it, start to finish
- Export your closed trades with dates, sizes and your notes.
- Write down the rules you intended to follow, as specifically as you can.
- Focus on section 2 — adherence is the part you control.
What you get back
The output this produces, every time.
- Measures how consistently you followed rules you set yourself, quoting the trades where you did not.
- Surfaces behavioural patterns in your own history, with an honest statement of whether the sample supports them.
- Tells you what your journal is failing to capture, which is unrecoverable after the fact.
Getting better results
Where this usually goes wrong, and how to avoid it.
- Write the rules down first. Section 2 is the most valuable output and it only works if the stated rules are specific. 'Manage risk' cannot be measured against a record.
- Include your note at the time. The reasoning at entry is what makes a pattern interpretable, and it is the first thing lost if you do not record it.
- Respect the sample-size warnings. Thirty trades cannot support a confident behavioural conclusion. The review will say so; the temptation is to read past it.
